Unspeakable If (Methuen humour books) Review
I'm a huge fan of Steve Bell's work and this is a particularly worthy collection that hasn't really lost its chuckle value despite the fact that the events it parodies have become history to a large extent.
Probably the only single lament I have about the resignation of Tony Blair is that Steve Bell will no longer have much cause for producing more pop-eyed, grimacing caricatures of the great Tory-in-disguise! This book is well worth the price for its portrayal of the royal family as a chav mafia and its hilarious sequence on the funeral of a Falklands penguin- a near forgotten symbol of "caustic cynicism and general pissing about" who also gleefully sculps a bust of Lady Thatcher with his own guano! Absolutely priceless!
